Overview
Fully funded short-term exchange programme inviting students and young professionals to Japan to learn about Japanese society, diplomacy, innovation, culture, and public policy.
What's on offer
Participants visit Japan for approximately one week, attend lectures, visit universities and organisations, engage in cultural activities, and meet Japanese students and experts. International travel, accommodation, meals, domestic transport, and programme costs are covered by the Government of Japan.
Requirements
Applicants must typically be undergraduate or postgraduate students (and in some streams young professionals), aged 20+, citizens of eligible countries, have strong academic performance, good English ability, and an interest in Japan and international relations. Previous long-term residents of Japan and previous MIRAI participants are generally ineligible.
Ideal applicant
Students interested in diplomacy, international relations, security policy, business, sustainability, science, technology, culture, or Japan-related studies who want international experience and networking opportunities.
